Michelle & Ian’s Teal Cherry Blossom Cake

Michelle and Ian chose to get married on their 10-year anniversary together, which was 11-11-11.  It was also the same day of the APEC summit meeting in Honolulu.  The Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation brought together President Barack Obama and several other presidents, heads of state, and enormous security measures.  Most of Waikiki was off-limits, but Michelle and Ian booked the Hale Koa a year and a half in advance, way before the convention was set – so the wedding went on!  Traffic was horrendous and took 1.5 hours to get from our bakery to the hotel and passed through multiple security checks, including bomb sniffing dogs, but we made it.

Michelle and Ian selected a 3-tier white shimmer pearl fondant cake.  They wanted a cherry blossom design for the cake, but wanted to do something a little different.  To compliment their color scheme of teal and black, we created an asymmetrical cherry blossom climbing branch with 3-D sugar flowers that popped off the left-side of the cake.

For their flavors, they chose our Yellow Butter Cake with Strawberry Cream Filling and our Red Velvet Cake with Cream Cheese Filling.  The bride and groom provided their own cake Precious Moments cake topper.

Congratulations Michelle and Ian – we wish you a lifetime of happiness together!
