Sandra & Andy – Apples and Honey

Sandra & Andy were married in March with a civil union reception at the Laniakea YWCA (designed by Julia Morgan, the architect who designed Hearst Castle).  The theme “Apple and Honey”, representing themselves (Sandra is a teacher, hence the apple and everyone thinks Andy is sweet as honey) was found all throughout the ceremony.  Guests were given jars of homegrown honey (Andy’s brother is a beekeeper) as well as wooden honey dippers.  My favorite touch (and maybe I’m biased as I design cakes) was the Apple and Honey cake topper they had specially designed – they were sooo cute!

They chose a simple design – a two-tier, white fondant cake with red bands and gold floral piping detail so the focus could be on the cake topper.  For their flavor, they chose our Yellow Butter Cake with Fresh Strawberry Cream Filling.
